Rupee slips to Rs 51.90 per dollar

usdThe partially convertible Indian rupee slipped by 20 paise to Rs 51.90 per dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Wednesday due to dollar demand from importers and banks.

The Indian rupee opened at 51.85 per dollar versus 51.70 yesterday. At 12.20 pm IST, rupee was seen trading at 52.72

The domestic currency lingered in a range between Rs 52.60 and Rs 52.90 per dollar during morning deals.

Crude oil prices slipped by 54 cents to USD 101.70 per barrel in morning Asian trade as traders booked profits. Crude oil which is priced in US dollar puts a significant weight on the movement of Indian currency.

Meanwhile, the BSE was seen trading at 16228.43 up by 63.34 points or 0.39%. The 50-share NSE was at 4873.35  up by  23.80 or 0.49%.
